A membership is not required to attend a workshop.  We will offer workshop-only rates. Prices will vary depending on the length of the workshop.

What is a tool library?

Much like a traditional library, a tool library allows a community to have shared access to items that would otherwise have to be bought as individuals.  The difference is that tool libraries stock tools and kits instead of books, movies and music.

Do I need a membership to borrow tools?

Yes, all makerspace memberships include access to the tool library

Who can borrow tools?

All members of the Tool Library and of MKRLAB can borrow tool. If you’re under 16, we’ll need your parent or guardian to give us permission to lend you tools.

Do you accept tool donations?  What does the tool library need?

Absolutely! We have a need for a large variety of tools and equipment, some of which may not be available commercially.  Older tools and equipment can still have years of use, and often can be easier to repair or upgrade than newer models!

We are looking for all types of hand tools, electric tools, and equipment. Audio/video equipment, kitchen tools, Appliances, Gardening tools, and construction/maintenance tools are all welcome. If in doubt donate it and if we can’t use it, we will pass it on to a recycling facility or repair and make it available for the community to adopt.

Do you provide consumables?

Some consumables are included, like glues, screws and fasteners. Certain equipment that requires consumables like 3D printers have the cost of standard materials included in their by hour/by use price. We encourage members who have completed a project to make left over parts or materials available to others if they are in usable condition. Bins are provided for this purpose.
