Spring Break MKRCAMP
March 4 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 9:00am, happening 5 times
Ages 7-10, 9H – 16H (M-F)
The Spring Break MKRCAMP will introduce young makers to the magic of makerspaces through a variety of fun maker activities. Each day of camp, kids will participate in a papercraft activity, a culinary activity, and a minecraft activity.
Papercrafting activities will introduce kids to the laser cutter at MKRLAB; how it works and what we can make with it. We will be making simple paper circuits by combining origami with copper tape, coin cell batteries, and LEDs. Through papercraft, we will also explore things that fly and even introduce kids to the art of bookbinding.
Minecraft activities will introduce children to topics such as: design, architecture, and pixel art through collaborative building challenges. Each minecraft activity will consist of both an on and off-screen portion, and wrap up with group presentations.
Kids will also be exploring the kitchen at MKRLAB; making bread, pizza, and even freeze dried space food! We will cover the basics of following a recipe as well as basic safety and sanitary kitchen practices. They will learn about 3D printers and print their own custom cookie cutters. We will also dive into the neuroscience behind taste through a range of exciting food experiments.
Lunch provided by I’Epicerie Moderne. Allergies can be accommodated for given 48 hours notice.
